On February 19th, Seohyun completed her final performance as Yeonwoo in the musical, “Moon That Embraces the Sun”. After the January 20th press call and her first public show on January 21st, Seohyun was able to successfully and skillfully portray her character over the span of a month. Along the way, she received tremendous support from friends and family, SONEs, and her fellow members. Hyoyeon was in the audience for Seohyun’s final performance. During the final curtain call, her cast mates encouraged Seohyun to give a speech to the audience, commemorating her role in the musical. After introducing herself as Seo Yeonwoo, Seohyun went on to say that it was her first musical and though there were many flaws, she made memories that she would never forget because she was with great people. She finished off by saying that she will work hard to be a better musical actress. CeCi: Meeting you in real life, I was surprised that you had a low-pitched voice.
Yoona: Right? Whether I’m doing a photoshoot, singing, or performing on stage, there are a lot of times where I’m in charge of lovable, cute parts, so people see me as being really girly. I actually like the feel of androgynous concepts more. So there’s a difference between my image and actual self. The easy-going personality of the character ‘Nam Dajung’ when she was a reporter in ‘Prime Minister & I’ is close to my normal personality. I acted really comfortably, but there were a lot of viewers who said it was refreshing. I also felt some disappointment, wishing that episode was a bit longer.

CeCi: Are you more used to the burden that comes from leading the drama as the main role now?
Yoona: It’s not a situation of being able to lead anyone yet. I was able to meet nice and considerate opposing roles played by Kwon Sangwoo oppa, Jang Geunsuk oppa, and Lee Bumsoo sunbae, so I received a lot of help on and off camera. I leaned on the seniors’ work experiences and am stacking up the things I’ve learned, one by one. I agreed with this work’s director’s words: ‘There’s a small but definite difference between someone who has and hasn’t acted as the lead.’ The lead slowly gains the skill of seeing the general flow of the drama. I always feel that concentration is the most important thing. I’m not really sure what I have to do to convey subtle differences in emotions I’m expressing to viewers yet. (laughs) I probably have to study and practice a lot.

CeCi: Nam Dajung’s love in ‘Prime Minister & I’ was a bit stifling, to be frank. Do you agree?
Yoona: Nam Dajung was a mature character that was considerate and and made sacrifices for love. But I still have more child-like tendencies.

CeCi: Is being mature good?
Yoona: I’m not sure. Being mature means you know a lot more things. Right now, I like being twenty-five or twenty-six years old more than twenty. Of course, I could be thinking that because I’m still young. But something I’m certain of is that it’s prettiest and best when you do things at the proper age. I’m able to make a bigger change now because I was able to show a lot of an image, like an innocent appearance, at a suitable age. Nowadays, I’ve been liking mannish styles during photoshoots. Though, I’m not sure if I’ve been drawn to a mannish image because I only showed a lovely image in my prime, or because I’ve always liked them.

On February 16th, Taeyeon appeared as a guest on MBC FM4U’s “Blue Night” radio, hosted by SHINee’s Jonghyun. Taeyeon and Jonghyun are currently promoting for S.M. the Ballad, singing a duet titled “Breath”.

On “Blue Night”, Jonghyun, who said that he would like to say greetings as a member SHINee for a long time, asked Taeyeon, “How long do you think you (editor’s note: Girls’ Generation) can actively promote together?”

Taeyeon replied, “Of course, I was born in front of the public as Girls’ Generation. I’d like to be Girls’ Generation to the public until the end.” Further, she opened up her heart and said, “It’s also something the members would like to keep among ourselves. When I grow old, old enough to not be able to dance with high heels, I’d like to still be Girls’ Generation. It’s something all nine members would like to keep.”

She added, “I’m always hungry to sing more. Even when I’m actively promoting, there are feelings where I’d like to do more with the songs.” Taeyeon also discussed her solo promotions and explained, “I like that these opportunities keep popping up. Our goal is for our members to show a variety of things in different areas.”

Taeyeon mentioned the days she takes time off as well, revealing, “I stay home, watch live performances on YouTube, and make things like cupcakes.”

Later, Taeyeon and Jonghyun brought up alcohol and drinking. Jonghyun began by asking Taeyeon if she liked alcohol, to which she replied, “I do.”

Jonghyun also asked, “People think Girls’ Generation will only drink wine. Is this true?” Taeyeon replied, “We drink wine a lot. We revealed we like champagne too.” Jonghyun drew laughs, saying, “Lies!”

As for snacks, Taeyeon said, “I like ddukbokki. But I can’t eat spicy food very well. So I eat things such as cuisine ddukbokki.”

When asked about her behavior when drunk, Taeyeon said, “About drinking behavior, it comes out when a certain amount of alcohol goes in. By then, I don’t know.”

Jonghyun then claimed, “When we all went to go eat together after an SM concert, I saw Taeyeon’s drinking behavior. It’s the best. Her voice is the prettiest. Taeyeon can’t drink very well. So when others start to get drunk, she’s drunk already. Everyone said Taeyeon is cute after seeing this.”
