[Interview] Yoona Appears in CeCi Magazines March Issue

haruki_
moments

CeCi: Meeting you in real life, I was surprised that you had a low-pitched voice.
Yoona: Right? Whether Im doing a photoshoot, singing, or performing on stage, there are a lot of times where Im in charge of lovable, cute parts, so people see me as being really girly. I actually like the feel of androgynous concepts more. So theres a difference between my image and actual self. The easy-going personality of the character Nam Dajung when she was a reporter in Prime Minister & I is close to my normal personality. I acted really comfortably, but there were a lot of viewers who said it was refreshing. I also felt some disappointment, wishing that episode was a bit longer.

CeCi: Are you more used to the burden that comes from leading the drama as the main role now?
Yoona: Its not a situation of being able to lead anyone yet. I was able to meet nice and considerate opposing roles played by Kwon Sangwoo oppa, Jang Geunsuk oppa, and Lee Bumsoo sunbae, so I received a lot of help on and off camera. I leaned on the seniors work experiences and am stacking up the things Ive learned, one by one. I agreed with this works directors words: Theres a small but definite difference between someone who has and hasnt acted as the lead. The lead slowly gains the skill of seeing the general flow of the drama. I always feel that concentration is the most important thing. Im not really sure what I have to do to convey subtle differences in emotions Im expressing to viewers yet. (laughs) I probably have to study and practice a lot.

CeCi: Nam Dajungs love in Prime Minister & I was a bit stifling, to be frank. Do you agree?
Yoona: Nam Dajung was a mature character that was considerate and and made sacrifices for love. But I still have more child-like tendencies.

CeCi: Is being mature good?
Yoona: Im not sure. Being mature means you know a lot more things. Right now, I like being twenty-five or twenty-six years old more than twenty. Of course, I could be thinking that because Im still young. But something Im certain of is that its prettiest and best when you do things at the proper age. Im able to make a bigger change now because I was able to show a lot of an image, like an innocent appearance, at a suitable age. Nowadays, Ive been liking mannish styles during photoshoots. Though, Im not sure if Ive been drawn to a mannish image because I only showed a lovely image in my prime, or because Ive always liked them.

[Interview] PlayDB Interviews Seohyun for Moon That Embraces the Sun Musical

haruki_
moments

It feels like there are a hundred bears on my shoulders. Girls Generations Seohyun, who is appearing in her first musical, Moon That Embraces the Sun, expressed the burden cutely like this. The character Seohyun is playing in her first musical is the same character that Han Ga-in played in the drama Moon That Embraces the Sun, Yeonwoo. Shes a character that gets caught up in political conflicts in the royal palace, isnt able to fulfill her love with the crown prince, Hwon, and becomes a female shaman after losing her memory. Seohyun, who goes through her thoughtsa hundred times a day in order to create her own kind of Yeonwoo, has big and distinct dreams for musicals. Having just made her first step, we are quietly watching over her.

PlayDB: How did you get to appear in Moon That Embraces the Sun? I feel like you would have gotten musical offers in the past too.

Seohyun: I honestly really wanted to be in a musical for a long time. There were offers, but I didnt want to jump into it when I wasnt prepared. So I carefully chose it, and I really wanted to take part in this work. I really like historical dramas. It was to the point where the only dramas I watched were historical ones when I was little. I really enjoyed watching the drama and reading the book for Moon That Embraces the Sun, so I was able to accept the musical offer with a very happy feeling.

PlayDB: Not too long ago, you watched Wicked. Because its a performance you watched with your appearance in a musical coming up, it must have felt different.

Seohyun: I think Ive watched all the musicals [Ock] Joohyun unnie appeared in thus far, without missing any. I got the dream of wanting to be in a musical watching her. Shes really good. Whenever I see her performance, I always get goosebumps, and wonder, Will she be able to do better than this next time? but she does well again. I admire her, and I really get stimulated.

PlayDB: What aspect of musicals appealed to you?

Seohyun: First of all, because I like music so much, I also like singing, and I really wanted to try acting. Vividly unfolding a work with a combination of singing and acting, not through a screen but in front of an audience, was really appealing. Until now, Ive always watched performances as a member of the audience. I think I dreamed about this by imagining how much more heart-touching it would be standing on stage myself.

[Interview] The Musical Interviews Seohyun

haruki_
moments

Seohyun will be getting on stage not as a Girls Generation member, but as Yeonwoo of Moon That Embraces the Sun. In reality, there seemed to be a lot of similarities between Seohyun and Yeonwoo. First of all, she is beautiful and innocent like Hwon and Yangmyungs first love, Yeonwoo. Recalling the first love anyone dreams of, seeing Seohyun appear wearing a fluttering white one-piece, is a natural phenomenon. Also, like Yeonwoo, who is finding her love again by overcoming numerous hardships, Seohyun carries a gentle appearance, but is strong in spirit. She looks weak on the outside, like she would break easily. But her eyes that unravel her thoughts and dreams, are firm.

One Step Closer to the Stage

The Musical: Youre finally debuting in a musical. How does it feel thinking of your first stage?
Seohyun: My heart is beating and fluttering. I want that day to hurry up and come. But its also really burdensome. Its part nervousness, part fluttering of my heart, and part anticipation (laughs).

The Musical: I assume Girls Generation members who have experienced the musical stage before gave you various tips for your first performance.
Seohyun: They really believed in me. They told me to be confident. Participate in practices as much as possible. They always send me messages of support. Rather than giving me special advice like a teacher, they become a great source of strength next to me.

The Musical: When did you decide that you should do a musical?
Seohyun: I got the dream watching [Ock] Joohyun unnies performance. I watched every musical she was in, not missing a single one. I gradually set my mind on wanting to be in a musical like that.

The Musical: What work was especially memorable?
Seohyun: 42nd Street. The role of Peggy Sawyer was quite appealing. I really want to be in this work one day. So after seeing the performance, as a future promise [to appear in the musical], I learned to tap dance. During a concert, I created a stage similar to the musical and showed off my tap dancing.

The Musical: Im looking forward to your Peggy. What other role do you want to play?
Seohyun: Glinda from Wicked! I really enjoyed Wicked. I watched it in New York, and I also watched the performance in Korea. But I liked Joohyun and [Jung] Sunah unnies performances the most. If it werent for those two, its a character that I could have never even imagined. They were over 100% in sync with the characters. Every time I see Joohyun unnies performances, I get a lump in my throat and gain a great amount of strength. Of course, her role of Elphaba was also great and I did want to play it, but Glinda was quite lovable. Of the two, its the character that I could express a bit better. Ive set the goal to try playing it within the next ten years.

[Interview] Harpers Bazaar Magazine Interviews Tiffany and SISTARs Bora

haruki_
moments

Tiffanys energetic voice filled the studio. Im currently watching a scene of Girls Generations Tiffany and SISTARs Boras friendship. With bright and healthy appearances, they took selcas making funny facial expressions on purpose and gave each other tips regarding what kind of clothes suit one another without hesitation. While continuing their petty, everyday occurrences that reminded me of the chats I have with friends, Tiffany, who has particularly white skin, would laugh loudly, saying, Were like cookies and cream, being together with tan-skinned Bora, and Bora would simply agreed. This was like the natural sense of closeness between two children, different from friendship, packed with charming actions of excessive compliments thats commonly seen on television. Its not easy for a member of one of the top idol groups, amidst the overflowing amount of girl groups, to do a magazine photoshoot with another groups member. It seems the management companies consenting to this was only possible because they are Tiffany and Bora.

Like an empty friendship, its not easy for people who simply know each other through work to appear so smooth. Becoming friends with someone met through everyday life requires absolute timing or careful efforts. The twos history is short but strong, and more than anything, its natural. It was to the point where Hyoyeon and Sunny noticed Bora was Tiffanys match upon first glance while filming the variety show Invincible Youth 2′ and introduced them to each other. Tiffany replied to the question of how they were able to create a friendship, rather than having a sense of rivalry, through sharing their experience in girl groups.

Tiffany: I think its because she came and met me now. Im in my 7th year, and Boras in her 3rd. If it was me four years ago, I dont think we could have gotten this close. Early during my debut days, I wouldnt greet rival groups well and was cold. Now though, that friend and I laugh and say, We were like that back then! (laughs) Normally, when girls record something together, theres a peculiar war of nerves, wanting to look prettier. But, you saw us earlier, right?

[Interview] Soojin Speaks About Sooyoung in Interview for Le Passe Muraille Musical

haruki_
moments

Choi Soojin, Sooyoungs sister, was recently interviewed for Le Passe Muraille, or The Man Who Walked Through Walls a musical in which she plays the role of Isabelle.

- What did your sister, Sooyoung (Girls Generation), say about your acting as Isabelle?

Soojin: Sooyoung never complimented me until now. All she would say is Good work unnie. If I asked, How was this scene?, she used tell me things I needed to improve on. Truthfully, I knew about those points from ratings by the audience or criticism from the director.

So I was never hurt by my sister (translators note: by her lack of compliments). Rather than feeling saddened with the thought of Why wont she ever say good things for me, I thought, I probably got criticized on the same points. However, this time, she complimented me a lot by saying, The first verse was good, or Your diction was clear, so it was a new feeling.

- You teared up during your video message to your sister in Midnight TV Entertainment.

Soojin: Sooyoung was also surprised and asked me Why did you cry? It was odd that she was surprised. Dont you usually get emotional when you talk about your family? I missed her, and so I got emotional. Starting from a young age, she didnt come home often because she was an idol. I have a heartbreaking emotion for her because I often watched her from behind.

- Please say anything you want to tell Sooyoung through this interview.

Soojin: My sister was sick with swollen tonsils. A lot of people will love the new album, so I wish shed wait for the fans reactions with an excited mind rather than a nervous one. It is my wish as an older sister that shed return to her original resolution (translators note: her mental state from her debut days) and gain strength from that.

[Interview] CeCi Magazine Features Taeyeon for a Photoshoot and Interview

haruki_
moments

When asked to choose who I wanted to meet from Girls Generation, my choice was always Taeyeon. Because her subtle, yet powerful voice was the strong first impression from a group called Girls Generation. 2014 makes 8 years for Girls Generation. They opened up a new chapter in the Korean music industry, and, rather than remaining in the generation they created, they wanted challenges. While none are teens anymore, theyre still relentless. They have been pulling in everything possible as Girls Generations territory and have been building up a large, solid fortress. When there is word about a comeback, it is said their next steps will decide Girls Generations future. However, no matter what the appearance of their comeback, nothing would be weird. Among lively members who are overflowing with personality, Taeyeon always quietly stayed a step back. Doing what she likes by singing & sharing loving looks with her fans: it feels like that is how she spends her time. White skin almost transparent, baby-like smiling eyes, but she is a bit secretive. What might be in her heart? On the first day of raging sleet this winter, I met Taeyeon. She hesitated quite a bit, trying and trying not to show her feelings. However, I didnt want to rush her. Because there had to be something valuable about her that didnt need to be shown easily. 26 year-old Taeyeon is currently going through her most beautiful time right now.

CeCi: Compared to other members, you dont have many individual activities. I hope this CeCi cover photoshoot is considered as a coveted item by fans.
Taeyeon: This is my first time as a solo cover model, so its really interesting. Each Girls Generation member has done their own versions of cover shoots, and we really didnt know anything at the time. Since there have been many cases where members were cover models for separate magazines, I can tell how great this is.

CeCi: You havent done as many photoshoots as I thought.
Taeyeon: To be honest, there has been a time when getting my photo taken felt rather difficult. There have been a lot of times where Ive declined photoshoot schedules because, for some reason, I didnt have any self-confidence. However, I thought about when I would again be able to leave [a trace] of myself in my 20′s, if not now. I also thought about when else I would be able to show myself to mediums and fans when they want. In the past, I only wanted to sing songs I like the most. However, now, if its something that others can all take in and willingly enjoy, then I think its something I can do and feel that it is my job.

[Interview] TV Daily Interviews Yoona for Prime Minister and I

haruki_
moments

TV Daily: Are you having fun filming Prime Minister and I? Its yet to be broadcast; did you have any good dreams?
Yoona: There arent many weeks left until the first broadcast and Im looking forward to it and my heart is fluttering as it gets near the date. It is a bit burdensome as well, but the mood on set is enjoyable and fun. I wasnt able to have a dream, but I want to have a daebak dream (translators note: dream of success) a day or two before the broadcast. (laughs)

TV Daily: You took on the role of the reporter Nam Dajung, who is full of gaps and holes (translators note: someone who is a bit clumsy). What is a transformation point that you think was important?
Yoona: Unlike roles Ive played thus far, there are off-the-wall and bright sides to this one. There are a lot of similarities with me. So I tried my best to show my usual self naturally. Because I change from being a reporter into a Mrs., there is one transformation in the drama. In order to set that change, I tried to add emphasis on natural hairstyles and outfits with dark tones and activewear. I created the difference as a Mrs. with two pieces and coat-like outfits, with straight hair.

TV Daily: How did it feel getting the sript for Prime Minister and I for the first time in a while?
Yoona: I had a lot of fun reading it. (laughs) I always wanted to try the genre of a romantic comedy and the sript had a mood that I had in mind, so I had fun reading it. The character of Nam Dajung is similar to one that Ive been searching for. Ive been looking for a character that is brighter, easy-going, and tomboyish, unlike what Ive shown, so this hit the nail on the head.

[Interview] Cosmopolitan Interviews Yuri for November Issue

haruki_
moments

Jungeun, who receives the love of Lee Jongsuk and Seo Inguk in the film No Breathing, is far from the first love character that women hate. She hits guys in the back of the head often and devours chicken feet in front of the guy who likes her. She doesnt confuse guys, and she doesnt cry while apologizing to them either. After meeting Yuri, who doesnt act coy at all, I cant imagine who else could have played Jungeun.

Cosmopolitan: How was todays shoot? You played in front of the camera as if you were thinking, Try taking my picture if you can. Its something reporters are grateful for, because there is a considerable amount of female celebrities who stubbornly do poses or make facial expressions that they think look best for them, regardless of the photoshoot concept.
Yuri: I was like that in the past, too. Not too long after debuting, I stubbornly made poses that I thought looked pretty. After doing that and attempting new things, I learned that I can look a lot prettier when I have a natural appearance. When doing photoshoots, I think pretty photos come about when theyre taken to suit the concept. Of course, your face looks prettiest then, too.

Cosmopolitan: Well, you do have a good face
Yuri: No, its really not! (laughs)

Cosmopolitan: The style you wore today (a camouflage T-shirt, black skinny jeans, black sneakers, and a dog-tag-like necklace) is pretty, too? Do you normally dress like this?
Yuri: First of all, I like comfortable things. Dressing up in a girly way doesnt suit me. Among my members, there are ones who enjoy dressing up femininely, but with my character, I cant bring myself to wear accessories and dress up prettily. I like comfortable styles best. The color black is the best.

[Other] Seohyun Answers a Questionnaire for TENASIA

haruki_
moments

Real name Seo Juhyun, born in 1991, and a member of our countrys representative girl group, Girls Generation. The girl who auditioned with a baby face has now grown and stands in front of the general public as a woman. She was recently unexpectedly cast in the SBS weekend drama, Passionate Love, and made her attempt at acting. Though she did die in just four episodes, she had a successful start showing sweet acting with actor Lee Wongeun, who played a young Kang Mooyeol in the drama. Her acting in a drama seemed to confirm that it was a well-prepared attempt, following her dubbing in the Despicable Me animated film series.

If there was another modifier that expresses Seohyun, it would be proper lifestyle girl. After appearing on MBC We Got Married in 2011, she showed off a different kind of charm by showing the proper lifestyle model of Girls Generations youngest member, Seohyun. Her sharp, knife-like life habits, use of honorifics, and reading habits gradually set her apart from other girl group idols. And, as if confirming that her appearance wasnt predetermined, she earned the title idol with notion by delivering word about Memorial Day, National Liberation Day, and other anniversaries through SNS.

Seohyun, who is capturing the hearts of fans with a variety of charms, tried her hand in another new field. When TENASIA gave the self-research exam, like her personality, Seohyun fully engaged herself in the test with a serious attitude. With this mock exam shes looking at for the first time in 4 years, we wonder what she might have written. We will be revealing the results of this self-research exam that made a serious Seohyun even more serious.

[Interview] billboard KOREA K-POP Magazine Features Yuri and Seohyun for Photoshoot

haruki_
moments

The photography studio suddenly buzzed. The hearts of passersby gathered in the street, and of course, those of the onsite staffs were filled with excitement. When the leaves on the trees were dyed brown, we met with Girls Generation members Yuri and Seohyun.

Girls Generation returned wearing skinny jeans. With the announced Japanese original single, GALAXY SUPERNOVA, in September, the ladies displayed beautiful legs wearing colorful skinny jeans.

Among the nine, Yuri and Seohyun are the members who have recently become the most pretty. When you fall in love, you become pretty? Taking off the jeans, the fashionable duo in miniskirts and hot pants with Burberry coats are madly in love. Of course, were not talking about their real stories. Through a movie or drama respectively where they fall in love, we leaned our ears for Yuri and Seohyuns talk.

billboard KOREA: How have you recently been spending your time?
Yuri: On the topic of the movie, No Breathing, I am very happy. I spent my time reading the sript, filming, and learning about other necessary aspects for the movie.
Seohyun: I am also doing various activities, starting with Girls Generations arena tour and the world tour; I think I have spent a fulfilling time. Of course, I am also trying hard for the drama, Passionate Love.

[Interview] Harpers Bazaar Magazine Interviews Jessica and f(x)s Krystal

haruki_
moments

Jessica and Krystal, who sang and danced to music with different rhythms, focused on one rhythm. With just their eyes, the two of them would read each other and drew one another in. Complete as one like that, they seemed relentless and unafraid and were distinctly beautiful.

Jessica: The two of us havent done a rugged image photoshoot together before. My younger sister and I like this type of feeling, but Girls Generation has a pretty image, and because my sister is too young to take on this appearance, we couldnt do it. Also, even though I appear edgy and sharp, please make sure to let people know that Im not like that in real life. My fans probably know already, but Im a heodang. Heodang. (translators note: a heodang is someone who is odd in their own way.)

I wondered if I should believe these words as is. This is because I couldnt find a gap in Jessica, skillfully leading the photoshoot. Having debuted 7 years ago, like on stage, she overwhelmed the attention on set with her professional appearance.

[Interview] Magazine M Interviews Taeyeon and Seohyun for Despicable Me 2′

haruki_

How did you interpret Margo and Edith?

Taeyeon: I tried not to be different from the previous movie. I took out playfulness because Margo is a reliable first child. I just acted like me. Something like a simple and composed older sister.
Seohyun: Edith is a little brat and a punk, just like a boy. The fact that she is so playful makes her similar to me. I get really playful when Im with a close unnie or friends. My facial expression turned into that of a brat when I was recording.

Wasnt it hard acting out Margo, who was in love for the first time?

Taeyeon: I acted very blankly, using my experience of falling in love. Honestly, Antonio is not my type. Margo had many changes of emotions this time, so I had a variety of emotions to act out.

Is a boyfriend like Antonio not acceptable?

Seohyun: Im sorry, but he is totally not acceptable. I dont really like the greasy type. I wish he didnt talk like that too.
Taeyeon: I wish his eyes had a bit more focus. Theyre always so blank.

What directions did the audio director give?

Taeyeon: He asked me to be a bit more cheerful because there were times when I sounded too mature.
Seohyun: I sometimes sounded too young when trying to act Ediths young voice. Every time I did that, the director asked me to get a bit older. It was comfortable and familiar working with the director because he was the same director from the previous movie.

[Interview] Taeyeon and Seohyun Discuss Despicable Me 2′ in Interview with Cine21

haruki_
moments

Continuing on from the original film, Taeyeon and Seohyun were in charge of the voice acting for Margo and Edith in Despicable Me 2″. The oldest, Margo, who nagged and frugally took care of her younger sisters, has already greeted adolescence with heartaches over her first love. Edith had grown into a tomboy, learning all sorts of sports and martial arts. When asked one thing, Taeyeon and Seohyun would exchange a bundle of chatter. Despite the passed time, like the unruly sisters in Despicable Me, the Taeyeon and Seohyun who we met three years later through Cine21s magazine were still bright and innocent girls.

Youre taking part in the sequel after the first film.

Seohyun:
I used to think, Were going to do the next series, too!, so it was really nice when they called for us again. Edith had become an even more mischievous girl.
Taeyeon: Wouldnt the audience dislike the change in an unchanged characters voice? Margo fell in love and became more mature.

What do you think about guys like Margos first love, Antonio?

Taeyeon: Hes a bit far from my ideal type. (laughs) I wish hed be less greasy. When Antonios hair flutters, his flirtiness and charms also fly with it.

[Interview] Sooyoung for Elle Magazine

haruki_

Elle: You finished your first drama as the lead, Dating Agency; Cyrano. I was honestly surprised at your acting that didnt hint at you being an idol.
Sooyoung: I wasnt expecting to hear people tell me that I did well at all. Because I ran into a lot of limitations while filming.

Elle: From the way she talked, to her gestures, Gong Minyoung was really lovable.
Sooyoung: Thats a relief. The way I look or my personality arent on the lovely side, so I thought it would be awkward to force a lovable appearance. When I see actresses who are good in romantic comedies, like senior Gong Hyojin, they dont try to look pretty. I tried to let myself go comfortably.

Elle: I think itd be difficult for an idol to not act pretty.
Sooyoung: Last year, I took the role of a patient with a brain tumor in my first drama, The Third Hospital. I was a bit disappointed at first when I had to wear a patients gown and didnt get to wear a lot of makeup. But after meeting actual patients who were fighting an illness, I felt pathetic thinking like that. I think throwing out wanting to look pretty made my acting a bit more natural. Still, I got surprised watching TV. Because I came out looking so ugly. (laughs)

Elle: Im aware that you prepared for a long time to become an actress.
Sooyoung: What Ive wanted to do from the start is act. When my future was opaque during my trainee days, I tried out for a lot of auditions in order to go down the road of an actress. While I got far away from that [road] through official activities as a singer through Girls Generation, I always treasured my dream of acting. While watching my other members find their own domains one by one, I waited for my chance. I received lots of scripts, and there were a few works where I was a strong candidate for the cast, but they all werent meant to be.

Allure: Because its a beauty photoshoot, it focused on your face; how was it?
Tiffany: Because it was a makeup photoshoot, I put my own style down for a moment and did the shoot with the mindset of showing a new appearance. To be honest, Ive been wanting to do a beauty photoshoot like this lately. Its interesting how the mood changes depending on slight differences of the shape or attention of your lips, or angle of your jaw.

Allure: I was wondering what would happen if you were to ask them to remove some of the makeup because it was too thick.
Tiffany: I know well what kind of hair and makeup styles suit me. However, if I always look the same on stage, in photoshoots, and music videos, wouldnt it be too boring? While me wearing red eye shadow was awkward, it was fun.

Allure: You went to Taiwan for a concert a few days ago, correct?
Tiffany: Yes. We have a concert in Indonesia planned in September, and a Girls Generation album will be released in the fall along with a Girls Generation subunit, Girls Generation TTSs album next year.

Even though they were tired due to their packed schedule leading up to the photoshoot, they wore bright smiles and livened the atmosphere in the studio. Following the one in 2012, this is our second birthday party with Tiffany. Last year, around this time, we planned a photoshoot in light of her birthday, and we lent a helping hand to the society for abandoned animals through donations. And a year later, we have met with her again for the same reason. She showed off her eye smiles that are forever lovable and make you melt, as well as her different feminine charms. The fun and pleasant time we had during the CeCi cover shoot with the most beautiful main party guest who confessed, My wish has come true, will now be revealed.

CeCi: How have you been after Girls Generations activities as a whole ended?
Tiffany: As always, Girls Generation as a whole has been having world tour concerts. Im the type to engage in one thing, so Ive been putting my all into concerts lately. When each one ends, I check over things I lacked in and what Im satisfied with, and write a concert review in my own diary. We have completed 29 concerts so far (date of the interview was June 24th), and while each concert cant be perfect, I work to make it perfect. Also, recently, in order to show Tiffanys own appearance a little more to the public, Ive done fashion photoshoots often.
